PM's Diya Lighting Call: People Burst Crackers, Ho
Prime Minister Modi had called on the citizens of India to light candles, ‘diyas’ (earthen lamps) and torches at 9 p.m. on April 5. The aim was to show national solidarity.

But some over-enthusiastic people burst crackers and took out torch rallies and changed the very purpose of Modi’s appeal.

When people around the country were switching off lights in their homes, at that very moment, some people in Jaipur lit lanterns and released them into the sky.

Later, fire broke out in a building in the city’s Vaishali Nagar after a lantern fell on it. The blaze then spread to a nearby house. Thankfully, nobody was hurt or injured.

In Maharashtra, a fire broke out near the Solapur airport at 9.20 p.m. According to media reports, the blaze erupted due to the bursting of fire-crackers. Later, four fire tenders brought the fire under control after a 20-minute-long effort.

Apart from this, pictures of fires breaking out and other accidents came to light from several parts of the country.

Going against PM Modi’s exhortation, Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh organised a torch rally and raised slogans of ‘Go Back Corona!’ He did not pay much attention even to social distancing.

Meanwhile, in Balrampur, Manju Tiwari, District Women’s President of the BJP, fired shots in the air at 9 p.m. Evidently, her act was the exact opposite of PM Modi’s appeal.

Fireworks were set off in almost every city of the country at 9 p.m., due to which the air quality has deteriorated again this morning.

Clearly, due to such acts of some people, not only do efforts by the government get weaker but they also deal a blow to our image in the world.
